A black oil sunflower with a compact head and high oil content is great for wildlife food plots for deer, turkey, and migratory birds that need the high caloric content. Black oil sunflower is the preferred feeder seed of finches, grosbeaks, crossbills, nuthatches, and many other birds. Selected for early maturity and disease resistance by our grower, Rusted Rooster Farm, our neighbor. They grow it for the sunflower oil! Plant after the danger of frost.
